Melbourne has extended the Grand Final series to the 3rd and deciding game after winning 4-2 against Essendon tonight. Game starts approx. 4PM at MBP tomorrow.
Shane Kraemer held the potent Essendon offence to 4 hits over 7 innings, with Matty Blackmore closing out the last two innings only giving up one hit.
Melbourne scored in the second innings after Mitch Ayres walked and Matt Kent doubled to the right centre alley, then in the 3rd, Essendon walked two runs in handing the lead back to Melbourne. Melbourne tcked on an insurance run in the sixth after Al Hondo was walked, advanced on Sam Boone's sac bunt, a wild pitch and then was driven in by a Nathan Aron's single.
That was enough for Melbourne to hang on despite some well hit balls by Essendon late to take the game to a decider tomorrow.
We hope to see as many supporters at the game tomorrow to cheer on the Melbourne boys.
